Our site for this project was located on Leeds' oldest street: Kirkgate, where the historic, First White Cloth Hall was built in 1711. Originally a busy and lively area being located close to the Corn Exchange, many of Leeds arcades and Kirkgate Market, the area is now in disrepair, clear of any buildings now being occupied by a car park.

Our brief required us to rejuvenate this area whilst appreciating its history. I took influence from the many arcades Leeds has. Historically, arcades were formed from terraced buildings with small alleyways in between. Crown Street Car Park has many smaller entrances and alleyways which is where I drew similarities from. Arcades also formed shortcuts and connections between streets. Due to the many paths and access points on the site, it is easy to replicate this.
